In January 2013, Guilford County Schools launched its 2016 Strategic Plan, called "Achieving Educational Excellence: Personalizing Learning." The plan will focus on four areas: Personalized Learning (Area I); Character, Service and Safety (Area II); Parent, Family and Community (Area III) and Educator and Organizational Excellence (Area IV). I.14 Expand opportunities for students to earn course credits through virtual learning. I.22 Develop well-rounded students. Area II: Character, Service and Safety highlights II.2 Increase character development opportunities for students during non-school hours. II.3 Expand recognition of students and staff members who demonstrate excellence in character development. II.4 Focus on the social and emotional well-being of students.
